terms of use
the contract between you and 2gather: what we provide, what we expect from you, and what happens when an event is paid, cancelled or reported.
last updated : 10 june 2026
1. publisher and contact
the 2gather service (the 2gather.events website, the 2gather mobile app and the related services, together the "Service") is published by 2gather. publication director: Amaury Poltavtseef.
single point of contact - for users and authorities alike: support@2gather.events. media (profile and event photos) are hosted by OVHcloud (2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France).
2. purpose and acceptance
these terms govern the use of the Service. you accept them by creating an account - acceptance is collected explicitly at sign-up, along with the community charter. if you refuse them, do not use the Service.
3. access conditions
registration is reserved for natural persons aged 18 or over. by creating an account, you declare that you are at least 18. we may ask for proof of age at any time and delete, without notice, any account whose holder is a minor.
- you provide accurate, up-to-date information and keep it current. a false identity or false date of birth may lead to the account being deleted.
- the account is strictly personal: one account per person, never transferred, lent or shared.
- you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out from your account.
- the basic Service is free. paid options are flagged as such.
4. the service and our role
2gather lets you discover events near you, create them, join them, and - in the mobile app - chat with other participants.
events are created and organised by their hosts, not by 2gather. we provide the tool that connects people and host the content published by users; we do not exercise prior control over that content and we are not party to the relationships between participants and hosts.
5. your content
you remain the owner of what you publish (photos, event descriptions, bio, messages). you warrant that you hold the necessary rights to this content and that it does not infringe the rights of third parties.
to run the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free licence to host, display, technically adapt (cropping, compression) and promote the Service, limited to the duration the content is published. delete the content - or your account - and the licence ends.
6. prohibited behaviour
- publishing illegal content: hate, harassment, threats, sexual content involving minors, counterfeiting, fraud.
- impersonating someone or creating a fake profile.
- organising an event that is illegal or dangerous for participants.
- habitually reselling tickets without the host's agreement (article 313-6-2 of the French criminal code).
- collecting other members' data, harvesting the Service's content (scraping) or attempting to access accounts or systems that are not yours.
- sending spam or soliciting members for unauthorised commercial purposes.
7. reporting and moderation
any user can report a profile, an event, a message or a room - via the "Report" button in the app or by email to support@2gather.events (subject [Report]). every report is reviewed by a person, and you are notified of how it is handled.
- an automatic filter blocks clearly inappropriate names and text at input; the rest of moderation is carried out after the fact, on report.
- sanctions are graduated: warning, content removal, temporary suspension, then account deletion. they are justified: a suspended account is told the reason for and duration of the suspension.
- you can challenge a moderation decision - from the app (appeal a report) or by email. we then re-examine the case.
- serious offences, in particular those that threaten a person's life or safety, are reported to the competent authorities.
8. paid events
for a paid event, the seller is the host: the participation contract is concluded between you and them. 2gather acts as a technical intermediary. payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd) - your card details never pass through our servers.
- the price is shown inclusive of all taxes before the purchase is confirmed.
- a service fee (10% by default) is taken from the price paid and borne by the host.
- funds are paid out to the host after the event takes place (within 2 business days by default). hosts of paid events must complete the identity verification (KYC) required by Stripe and accept the Stripe Connect account terms.
9. withdrawal and refunds
in accordance with article L221-28, 12° of the French consumer code, registrations for an event to be held on a specific date do not benefit from the right of withdrawal: the purchase is firm as soon as it is confirmed.
- you may nevertheless request a refund of your spot directly from the Service, up to 24 hours before the event starts.
- if the host cancels the event, or substantially changes its date or location, you are refunded the price paid - the refund is triggered automatically in the event of a cancellation.
10. host obligations
- you are solely responsible for the legality, safety and smooth running of your event, as well as for the permits it requires (venue, alcohol licence, declarations).
- the event page must faithfully describe what awaits participants: place, date, price, access conditions.
- if you cancel, notify participants without delay - for a paid event, they are refunded.
- if your hosting activity is professional, you take on the tax and reporting obligations that come with it.
11. intellectual property
the 2gather brand, the logo, the design, the code and the content produced by 2gather remain our property. your account gives you a personal, non-exclusive right to use the Service - it transfers nothing.
12. personal data
the processing of your data is described in the privacy policy: what we collect, why, for how long, and your rights. it is part of the contract but changes according to its own rules.
13. liability
we do everything we can to keep the Service available and reliable, without being able to guarantee uninterrupted availability - this is an obligation of means. we do not guarantee that events will take place, nor their quality or compliance, which are the responsibility of their hosts.
nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability in the event of proven fault on our part, personal injury, or breach of an essential obligation. your statutory consumer rights remain fully intact.
14. suspension and termination
you can delete your account at any time, free of charge, from Settings on the web or from the app. deletion is immediate and permanent (see the privacy policy).
we may suspend or delete an account in the event of a breach of these terms or of the law, following the gradation described in article 7: the decision is justified and you can challenge it. in the event of a serious breach (illegal content, minor's account, fraud), suspension may be immediate.
15. changes to the terms
if we change these terms substantially, you are informed at least 15 days before they take effect, by email or in the app. if you refuse the new terms, you can delete your account before that date; continuing to use the Service counts as acceptance.
16. mediation and governing law
a disagreement? write to us first at support@2gather.events - most situations are settled there. in accordance with articles L611-1 and following of the French consumer code, you can also turn free of charge to a consumer mediator after a written complaint that received no satisfactory response. this mediation is a right, never a prerequisite.
these terms are governed by French law. failing an amicable resolution, the dispute is brought before the competent courts under the rules of ordinary law.
17. credits
the iPhone visual on the home page uses a device mockup from MockuPhone (free for commercial use); the content shown on screen is added by 2gather. some cultural event visuals come from the City of Paris open data.
